Today marks the 9th year death anniversary of my father who has been the first entrepreneur I ever knew.

🏘
Daddy, who was best and fondly known to everyone as ‘Mubarack Hajiar of Passara’ was one of the most successful gem merchants of the time who built a great business that spanned across his life.

🏘
From humble beginnings to outstanding success, he possessed every quality of a true entrepreneur from grit, resilience, forward thinking, leadership, values and rapport.

🏘
One of his most outstanding characteristics were his ethics and values that he never compromised under any circumstance. His values aligned every decision he made. Likewise, he is well known for his philanthropic nature and as an individual who tirelessly engaged in many social services that served all races and religions.

🏘
He records many years of serving the Sri Lankan government as the Chairman of the CTB, a provincial council member as well serving as the Uva District Organizer up until his demise.

🏘
Another of the most outstanding qualities of my father was his rapport with everyone. He was one of the most friendliest and warmest individuals you could ever meet. He ensured that every single person he met felt seen and acknowledged. This resulted in building both strategic as well as personal and long term relationships with many that we uphold to this day.

🏘
Further, he had a habit of never missing attending a funeral even if it meant travelling all the way across the country and spending an average of 14-15 hours on the road just to attend a funeral. The respect of being there for people not just when they were alive but showing importance to them even upon death was his belief. It came as no surprise that his own funeral was crowded enough to cause a stampede.

🏘
The life of my father deserves celebration not only because he was a successful entrepreneur in every essence, but due to the valuable lessons he left on being a good human.
