Have you ever made a heartfelt dua? Sometimes we make dua as a form of lip service. For the sake of it. It happens. However, there are times when we have felt desperate for the help and aid of Allah that we have cried out to Him. According to a hadith of the story of three men who were stuck in a cave with a boulder in front, it was their heartfelt duas that saved them.

I will not get into the comprehensive details of the hadith but I will take a few lessons off it. When you want to ask Allah for something, mention a good deed you did purely for His sake and pleasure before you pray for what you want. Another point being, mention a sin you avoided simply for His pleasure eventhough you had every possibility and power of commiting it.

Allah is Ash-Shakur, the Appreciator. Even if every single person around you takes what you do for granted, He doesn’t. He feels appreciative of the good you do. He wants to give you what you want. Therefore, do things in a way that pleases Him because the reward remains both in this world and the next!
