I have occasional spells where I completely seclude myself from social media and have very limited contact with others. Psychologically there are countless benefits in staying away from social media. There is an unconscious intake of information and mind chatter on social platforms. In the meantime, boredom scrolling and time waste are also by-effects of it.

Seclusion. How important is seclusion in Islam?
The Prophet (sal) spent time in seclusion in cave Hira before he was given the Quran. Maryam (alai) used to seclude herself and pray for most of her days.
Seclusion can help us to spiritually rejunevate, helps us spend time improving ourselves and gives us time to prioritise. While moving with people is encouraged in islam, occasional moments of seclusion is similarly encouraged. Tahajjud being an example. The time where the entire world sleeps, your Lord comes down to the seventh heaven just to listen to His slaves ask Him for Forgiveness and help. The seclusion between the Almighty and His worshippers at this time is highly rewarding.
Likewise, i’tikaf during the last ten days of Ramadan is another form of seclusion.
Seclusion has brought out high levels of spiritual and self awakening in Islamic history. Therefore, take some moments of your day to shut the world out and make it only between you and Allah.
Lots of love,
Zarika
